San Francisco, California Apr 10, 2026 Acclaimed entrepreneur and aquatic education pioneer Irene Madrid has reached a major milestone with her memoir, Facing the Fall Line: One Womans Journey from Surviving to Thriving, which has become a #1 Amazon Bestseller.
In her deeply personal and unflinching narrative, Madrid shares the hidden reality behind her successful careerfour decades of marriage marked by narcissistic abuse, emotional manipulation, and betrayal. While co-founding five thriving swim schools over 47 years, she endured a private battle that ultimately escalated into a devastating attempt by her husband to take control of the very businesses she helped build.
Using the powerful skiing metaphor of facing the fall line, Madrid recounts how she confronted the steepest challenges of her life with courage and resilience. Her story reveals the insidious patterns of abuse, the emotional toll it takes, and the decisive actions she took to reclaim her identity, independence, and peace.
More than a memoir, Facing the Fall Line serves as a roadmap for others seeking to break free from toxic relationships and rebuild their lives with strength and purpose.
